A bit of a linen snob, I’ve ordered and returned too many pieces over the years. Aura the Label Clothing is the first one that got it just right.
There’s something about linen clothing that just seems impossible to get right. Last summer, my patience was rewarded.
Disclaimer: I get no commission or compensation from recommending this brand. I have gotten a lot of questions about this brand and therefore wanted to re-release this article.
Aura the Label Clothing
The Company
I think I had been online stalked by their ads for at least a year. They kept showing up in my Instagram and Facebook feed, and as I had never heard of them, I mostly ignored them — even though the pictures were ridiculously tempting.
Every piece is designed with the Aura muse in mind – the romantic yet powerful, strong yet feminine, and simple yet elegant woman. The designs are then handmade with love using sustainably-sourced materials by skilled Balinese artisans who live and breathe craftsmanship.

Returns / Exchanges
I actually had to exchange my pieces – all of them. Turns out their sizing is smaller than ours here in the USA. So I exchanged each piece for one size up.
Read their return policy here – it is store credit or exchange only.
There are not a lot of online reviews, which isn’t too surprising since all items are hand-made in Bali, and while shipping is free, it isn’t the speediest (think a few weeks to arrive vs a few days, which we are accustomed to). But I’m telling you, if you want elegant and timeless linen pieces — it is worth the wait!
Milan top (size up, L) | Florence shorts (size up, M)
Based on what I read and my quick communication with their customer service, I originally ordered small in the Monaco pants and Florence shorts, and medium in the Roma and Milan tops. I am typically a small in most bottoms and with structured tops, I often have to size up to medium, as I am a 32DDD. Unfortunately, everything in my original order was a size too small. I felt a little devastated!
I knew the quality and styling were amazing, though, and not one to be easily defeated, I used their pre-paid exchange label to return everything with a request for one size bigger in each item. I won’t lie, it did take a little longer than expected…but finally everything arrived, and it was all perfect.
(A note on shipping time, my original order arrived in 10 days…return/exchange took 3 weeks. So just a heads up there. If you order 1 size up from your typical size, I really think you will be good!)

Roma and Florence
Roma top (size up, L) | Florence shorts (size up, M)
I originally feared the Roma top would be too short, and while it does sometimes show a little skin, I don’t find it too short (and I am reasonably conservative). I also have a long torso, so generally tops are shorter on me than others. The bottoms also have a high enough waist to help balance the crop well, I think.

I think these pieces just scream summer, and they each come in five glorious colors! I happened to choose black, because I find it so incredibly versatile, and I wanted to be able to mix and match a lot, but also I worried about the lighter colors being see through.

Monaco and Milan
While I love all the pieces, my absolute favorite, if I could only keep two, would be the Monaco pants and the Milan top. My friend, Laura (the seamstress), came over to look and also fell in love with them and said they reminded her of Old Hollywood, in the very best way…ooh la la!
“Consciously crafted from the highest quality 100% linen for a beautifully soft texture and drape. One of our best-sellers, these pants make a versatile addition to your sustainable wardrobe. All our pieces are ethically handmade in Bali.”
Milan top (size up, L) | Monaco pants (size up, M)
The tops all have two layers of luxurious linen with a beautiful drape and incredibly rich color. I was able to comfortably wear a strapless bra with both tops (though I did have to pull the back strap down a little further without issue). You could also easily wear my favorite Nippies, or for the extra brave, no bra at all, haha!
Milan top (size up, L) | Monaco pants (size up, M)
The Milan top, is the perfect balance of sexy and sophistication. I never felt exposed or like I was showing too much skin. And the loose flowing pants pair so perfectly with the fitted top. These pieces are a match made in heaven!

I anticipate having and wearing these pieces for many years to come.
I hope you love these elegant and timeless linen pieces as much as I do!

Thank you so much for this post and your video! Super helpful!
You are so welcome! I’m so glad that you found it helpful!
Will you share your height and waist size to help know which size is best to order?
Hi Lisa! I am 5’7”, about 140 pounds. Generally I am a size small in American brands of pants…in these pants I am a Medium. My friend who is generally an XS in pants took these in size Small.
In tops I am generally a S/M but I had to go up to Large in this as the Medium was too tight. I am a 32DDD. So I would go up one size in your typical American size.
Let me know if you have further questions!

Thanks for your review! The pieces look great on you. I’ve also been looking at the IG ads forever and have been tempted.
My question is actually about those white button-up pants (jeans?) you paired one of the Aura tops with in the video. I’m obsessed with them! Can you tell me the brand and if they were a recent purchase? My fingers are crossed they’re not vintage!
Hi Janet! Those were Veronica Beard Crosbie! Sold out however maybe you can find them on poshmark or something. I sized up 1 to 27 so that they weren’t tight!
Thanks so much! I’ll check Poshmark and ThredUp.
Good luck!! I hope you find them. This style is a staple for them and they do them in different colors and materials year round so they even come out with white again in the early part of 2022!
hi there! thank you for the review. the monaco pants look great on you! can i ask how tall you are? I’m 5’3 and the length looks perfect on you so wondering if they would be too long for me. thank you!
Hi! I’m 5’7” but I have a long torso and shorter legs so I bet you would be fine. If not though a quick hem from a tailor and you’d be set!
thank you for the response!
You are so welcome!!
Would you recommend sizing up in dresses as well? thank you!!! <3
I haven’t tried their dresses but I would assume so! I think everything is smaller than we are used to!
DO NOT ORDER!!!! I received a dress that was supposed to be a xs/s and it is more like a Large. I cannot wear it, it is just ridiculously big. I asked for a refund. They don’t want to hear anything. How am I supposed to find something that fits me if the smallest size is WAY too big? Never saw such a poor customer service. And looking at all the bad reviews they have I am not the only one.
Hi Loren! I’m so sorry to hear of your bad experience. That makes me incredibly sad. I’ll work to find some good alternate linen pieces this spring!
Their return policy is terrible!!!!! Thank you for pointing out. I don’t like the pieces I ordered and am stuck! 😨😨😨
Oh gosh Wendy, I am so sorry to hear that! Are you not wanting to exchange your items for something that works better for you? It was definitely scary ordering knowing it was exchange or credit only but in the end it worked out for me when I exchanged my pieces and I still have and love them!
Everything looks great on you!!! And the stuff is so cute. I can see why you recommended! Sorry to leave this on your site but I didn’t want anyone to be blindsided like I was! I think I am on the short side for their clothing – everything overwhelmed my shape so I don’t think an exchange will do. Thanks for the response – happy to stumble upon your blog! :))
I would say try poshmark! That’s where I sell my stuff! Thanks for your support and I’m sure others will find your comment helpful!
