Tammy and I are wearing our most loved date night tops!

Most of you know by now that Tammy and I met online (in another blogger’s insider’s group) – hit it off, decided to start our own blog (and did) and then finally just met in person a week or so ago. It’s been a whirlwind of the best kind!

These pics are from our first night out together in Denver – we had a blast! Cocktails at Terminal Bar in Union Station followed by dinner at an Italian restaurant nearby. It really felt like we had known each other forever…soul sisters!

We decided when she came that we wouldn’t overthink our outfits – we’d just wear our go-to pieces. Our favorites – the ones that we reach for the most. So we did just that, without much coordination. And it worked perfectly!

We’ll start with my my outfit (Rachel’s)…one of my favorite black tops paired with a go-to pair of Agolde jeans and my new black mules (that I’ve been wearing on repeat). Easy, simple and chic – my favorite kind of outfit.

Rachel – Black Statement Tops

One piece that every woman needs in their closet is a black statement top – not just any old black top – but one that you love. One that makes you feel instantly sexy and put together. A top you can depend on when you’re not sure what to wear or just don’t feel like thinking about it.

My top is older, but I still love it as much as the first day I bought it – I will have it for years. When Tammy was visiting, I knew I’d be wearing it one of the nights. And while mine isn’t available, there are so many good ones.

I did a round up of black date night tops that made me stop in my tracks – special ones! (I may have even ordered a few to try…gah!) This is what I found…

The Off The Shoulder Ones

These are most similar to the top that I’m wearing. The one shoulder makes them a little sexy but still conservative enough to wear most places. I love all of these. You can’t go wrong.

It’s Technically a Sweatshirt

Ok, yes it’s a sweatshirt – this one definitely has a more casual vibe. But I’m picturing it with ripped jeans and pumps for date night (or girls night out) – effortless and cool. I love this thing. Net-a-Porter is linked above, but there are a few left at Nordstrom. (Ordered to try – ugh, this article is really hurting my bank account – haha.)

If You Prefer More of a Tank

These are all great statement tops – especially for the Summer. The Zadig cami (on the left) is such a workhorse – I’m wearing it as I type.

The Longer Sleeved Ones

The one on the left – OK, I’m dying over this Pajama-style top. It’s 100% silk and on sale, but going fast! I may order this one to try – it’s calling my name. Paired with heels and jeans – totally my jam.

The middle one – I love this one too! Those thumb holes just get me…I would really love this for Fall. Ordered to try!

The one on the right – This one is Paige – classic and sexy, I’d add some long layered necklaces. A year-round workhorse – fully stocked at Paige (Nordy linked above).

Tammy – Silk Camisoles

I’ve talked before about my love for silk camisoles, and I really do believe a good camisole is a critical piece for your wardrobe. In the Summer, pair a camisole with any jean or denim short…add jewelry, cute shoes, and an amazing bag – BAM, magic! It’s such a simple formula that always works. And silk is wonderfully cool in the Summer (and acts as a great base or warming layer in the winter — win-win)!

Mine is the Cicely camisole by Paige. Paige has been making these camisoles for years, and they do different colors all the time. While mine is sold out, Bloomingdales carries it in black and it’s a good one. If you love the unique colors, check out Poshmark. These are pretty TTS in that I can wear a Small and don’t have to size up to Medium like I often do in camisoles (32DDD here, haha)!

In Classic Black

If you are new to camisoles, I recommend starting with a classic black one. It goes with everything and is a must have. My favorite one ever is the Theory Teah in a stunning stretch silk (sized up to Medium). If you are still on the fence with the camisole straps, I’ve included my favorite Theory silk tank which is incredibly sexy but still allows you to wear a regular bra. You can’t go wrong with any of these though!

In Attention-Getting Colors

Nothing makes an outfit more special than an amazing pop of color. Go with the color that gives your skin the best glow! I have to size up to Medium in these brands.

In Lace Trim

I used to be afraid of lacy camisoles. I got over it, haha! Now they are some of my favorite camisoles ever. I prefer to wear either a darker or colored lace so that my bra isn’t so obvious beneath as it is in the light colored lace. (Rachel, however, wears her camis with these nippies – so the light colored lace isn’t an issue for her.)

Including two of my favorite Zadig Christy camisoles (I wear in size small) plus Rachel’s favorite lace camisole.

Final Thoughts by Tammy

This entire day was one of the best ever. We went from never having met (in person) to eating off each other’s plates in T-24 hours. And actually, I think John was a little jealous, as he said “hey, I usually share meals with Rachel!” hahaha, sorry John, she’s mine! But seriously, if you can’t tell from the pictures, it was everything I hoped it to be and more. I can barely express my love for this woman…she is everything I could ask for in a partner and best friend. I’m feeling pretty optimistic about our little business venture here!
