I recently attended an event that required business casual dress, which isn’t my typical style. In preparation, I decided to try the Nili Lotan Flora jeans, which are yep, pleated. They are honestly more trouser-like than jean, and I thought they might fit the bill and be a fun addition to my wardrobe. Pleats are back baby, and I’m here for it. (More options at the end of this article.)
If you’re familiar with Nili Lotan, you know her pieces are expensive. I only own two other Nili Lotan pieces, this belt and a pair of joggers that I snagged on deep sale during the heart of the pandemic. Nili Lotan is known for her classic designs that have an undeniably cool vibe, and they are made to last. That being said, these jeans had to be perfect for me to justify the price tag.

Why the Nili Lotan Flora Jeans Are Worth It…
- The denim is buttery soft and lightweight.
- The DRAPE.
- They’re as comfortable as pajama pants…no exaggeration.
- They’re unlike any other pair of jeans I own (and this girl loves her denim).
- They’re insanely versatile and can be styled so many ways. More below…
Size Info
I fluctuate between a 25 and 26 in denim, and I’m wearing a 26 in these. They are a perfect fit without any squeezing. They do have a 35″ inseam, and I had the length altered which is fairly typical of a full-length jean. Most any tailor can do this, but I generally take my jeans to Nordstrom. If you’re having jeans shortened professionally, always request to keep the original hem. I altered them to wear with shoes ranging from a 2-3.25″ heel, and for reference, I’m wearing a 3″ heel in this article.
Alternative Wash
My pair is in the classic wash and currently available on preorder at Saks OR limited sized available directly from Nili Lotan. But, I wanted to point out that this jean is also available in a faded wash. Both are equally great!
How To Style the Nili Lotan Flora Jeans
So Much Versatility…
A Night Out

One of the many things I love about these jeans is their versatility. Here, I styled them for a night out with friends, and they elevated a simple black camisole. They’re also really amazing for a business casual setting. And, I adore them for everyday, worn with booties and a sweater or a simple tee/tank and sandals. More style ideas below…

Back in the office? These are perfect, and I especially love them paired with a blazer. This is my favorite lightweight blazer for Summer (also in black), TTS.
Nili Lotan Flora Jeans
Possibly my favorite thing about these jeans is their ability to elevate everyday basics. Even with just a white tank, these jeans are insanely chic. And you guys, this new Clare V. bag is so dang good. I will not let myself buy another bag, but man, I love it so much.
Alternatives to the Nili Lotan Flora Jeans
Please forgive me the R13 pair, I know they are ridiculously priced but look oh so cool. And the oversized MOTHER pair admittedly look questionable in these photographs, but could be great in person.
Another pair to check out is by Triarchy. They are mostly sold out at Shopbop, but you can order direct. They look really good. Triarchy is a sustainable denim brand that we have been dying to try.
What about a pleated trouser?
Also on my wishlist is a pleated trouser. I’d wear a bit oversized and pair them with a fitted tank, tee, or camisole.

Wrap Up

The Nili Lotan Flora jeans are a splurge for sure, but I’ll seriously be wearing them for years. I adore that they read more “trouser” than true jean and are so incredibly versatile. In addition, they are buttery soft with a gorgeous drape and as comfortable as my pjs. And if you think you “can’t wear pleats” or are simply “pleats? no way!”, trust me, you might be surprised.
