Swoon-Worthy SPF Swimwear for Women (You’ll Actually Want)

I discovered a line of swoon-worthy SPF swimwear for Women, and it’s all I’ll wear now.

If you’ve been here a while, you’ve likely heard me talk about my experience with skin cancer. (Fair skin and lots of tanning in my youth.) And if you read yesterday’s post, you know Tammy is about to undergo Mohs surgery for skin cancer too. So take it from us, sun protection is a must.

Honestly I have a bit of anxiety when it comes to the sun and avoid it at almost all cost. Family beach trips, days at the pool etc often cause me to feel uptight and worried vs relaxed, which is a real bummer.

In the past I’ve settled for less-than-cute SPF swimwear for women that did the job but certainly wasn’t fun to wear.

That is until I stumbled across the brand Cover. I can’t even tell you how game-changing Cover swimwear has been for me. It is without a doubt the most exciting new brand I’ve discovered over the past few years. Not only is Cover SPF swimwear for women rated UPF 50+ but it’s incredibly chic and easy to wear.

Swimsuit (my color mostly gone)

My color is mostly sold out but on deep sale (size L remaining). However, this suit comes in multiple colors (even more linked below), and I’m especially coveting the solid black with white zipper. It’s ultra-chic on it’s own, but would also be super cute with a colored bikini top under it.

Even though this suit is UPF protection swimwear, it’s surprisingly sexy with the front zip. I love that you can unzip a bit in the shade but have the option to cover your chest when needed.

How Protective Is It? (+fabric info)

Directly from Cover’s website:

Swim Jersey® is cover’s own specially constructed fabric made of highly opaque recycled microfibers. Cover’s fabric is certified Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex, meaning it has been laboratory tested by the third party to be free from hundreds of harmful chemicals. The UPF 50+ certification means that it blocks over 98% of UV rays. Since the sun protection is physical (not chemical), Cover will keep you covered, even with daily wears and washes. Get your Cover sunsuit damp, and it will actually keep you cool under the hot sun. Our patterns and artist prints are made in Los Angeles via eco-friendly, zero-waste sublimation heat transfer printing.

Sizing

I’m wearing a size Small – 5’7″, 125’ish pounds. You can also check out Cover’s size guide with measurements for each size.

Size Tips Directly from Cover’s website:

We size in line with clothing, not with the rest of the swimwear market. Please order the size you would choose in a bodysuit or fitted t-shirt. Our bathing suits are more fitted than the swim t-shirts. Please size down in the shirts if you are looking for a more body-conscious fit. We make everything with longer sleeves and slightly longer bodies. If you are between sizes, order based on height. We suggest considering sizing down if 5’5″ or shorter and sizing up if 5’8″ or taller.

But does it make you sweat?

I think one of the main reasons many women avoid SPF swimwear for women is they worry it’ll be too hot. After wearing this in mid-Summer Florida heat, I can attest this swimsuit does not cause you to overheat. Cover uses their own swim jersey fabric that provides temperature control. I don’t know how this works, but I promise you it does. And as mentioned above, if you get it wet, it will actually keep you cool!

About the Brand

Cover is a California brand and all of their swimwear is made in the US. It’s a woman owned business, and Lisa Moore (the founder) is a member of the Choctaw Nation, so Cover is registered as a minority business. Cover also makes a significant donation to the Melanoma Research Alliance every year. This is a brand you can feel good about supporting. (Read more here.)

Favorite Swimsuits

*NOTE: Products linked below are all from Shopbop, Neiman Marcus, and Net-A-Porter. If you purchase directly from Cover, they do have a strict return policy (purchases can only be exchanged not refunded).

Short Sleeved

*More directly from Cover. I seriously love all of these. I’d probably go with the black because it’s so impossibly chic, but the green and blue are just so fun.

Long Sleeved

*More directly from Cover. If you want even more coverage, this is a great option.

Rash Guards (+ Suits)

*More rash guards directly from Cover. If you prefer a more traditional swimsuit with a rash guard, Cover has that option as well.

Styled

Using my favorite Arizona Love beach bag in a black bandana print at the beach.

These swimsuits are so easy to wear. When I was at the beach, I threw on a pair of cut offs as a cover-up and grabbed my favorite hat and flip flops.

A Few Other Favorites

My exact hat is sold out, but this is the same brand. This has become one of my most-worn hats, and the quality is exceptional. I dropped this hat in the ocean multiple times, rinsed it with fresh water, and it was like new. I wear this almost daily to walk my dogs as well. Tammy and I both rave about these waterproof Birkenstocks. And lastly, this Arizona Love tote is one of my favorite things. I not only use this at the beach but also as a shopping bag, gym bag, etc. Tammy recently bought it in red, which is currently on sale.

Protecting our skin from the sun is so important – not only for anti-aging (sorry, not our favorite word either) but also for skin cancer prevention. If you’ve avoided SPF swimwear for women in the past because of it’s frumpy style, do not fear. Cover is not not only exceptionally protective for you skin but also so chic. This swimwear is a joy to wear, and I’m truly so thankful I found it.
