The Winter Essentials I Happily Wear Every Year

We talk about it all the time, but we truly try to invest only in pieces we absolutely love, and then we wear them over and over again. Winter pieces can be an investment for sure, but if you choose well, these pieces will last for years and years. Here are a few of my most-loved Winter essentials.

Winter Essentials:
The Black Puffer

Moncler Lannic Puffer (wearing size 1) | Gloves (similar – sign up for restock notification)

The piece I wear most Winter after Winter is a black puffer. And while this coat is definitely an investment, it’s one I wear very frequently, and I will have it for YEARS. So while the initial cost is high, the cost per wear is actually shockingly low. And in our opinions, cost per wear should almost always be considered. (Cost Per Wear = Initial Cost/# of Times Worn)

What makes this puffer so special? First, the weight – it is light as a feather while being insanely warm. And it’s silky soft to the touch. I also really love the styling – the stand up collar and pockets make it especially chic as far as puffers go.

This coat can be worn on the slopes, thrown over a sweater and jeans, out walking the dog or even over a cocktail dress. The versatility is off the charts.

The Lannic does fit roomier than some of Moncler’s other coats. I sized up by one to a Small (size 1) to fit bulky sweaters underneath but wouldn’t recommend sizing up more than that.

Other Budget-Friendlier Black Puffers

(The SAM Freestyle Jacket in matte black is my top pick, but the faux leather Mother jacket has me intrigued.)

Winter Essentials:
Beanie & Gloves

Beanie | Moncler Lannic Puffer (wearing size 1) | Gloves (similar – sign up for restock notification)

I’ve posted this beanie and gloves a few times now. There is good and bad news here – let’s get the bad out of the way. The gloves sold out, in all colors. I’m so bummed because they are a-mazing. You can put your email down in the above link for restock notifications, and I’ll be watching as well. If you see these pop back in stock – don’t think twice.

Other Fingerless Gloves

You guys – these crochet Vince gloves are flipping amazing. They are also pricey but so so special. I’m super tempted. The Naked Cashmere gloves don’t have the same slouchy vibe, but I bet they are so soft and cozy.

Now – the good news! I LOVE this Rag & Bone beanie. It’s soft and slouchy and most importantly doesn’t make my head itch – that is THE worst. It comes in a ton of colors as well. I also have it in black but keep debating the red.

Winter Essentials:
A Black Cashmere Dress

Moncler Lannic Puffer | Camel Coat | Dress (SO similar & ON SALE) | Belt (TTS) | Boots (same boot/similar color) | Silver Bag (similar) | Leopard Bag (similar)

I’m not a huge dress girl – gimme a pair of jeans most days. But, I adore this cozy and warm black cashmere dress. It’s a serious workhorse. Mine is Theory and long gone, but do not fear – I have alternatives. The one linked above is on crazy sale and SO similar – run!

Here, I showed two different looks by simply changing the topper. But this dress can easily be styled a million ways. I love it with sneakers and a leather jacket especially. And it’s also super cute with lug boots.

(And that camel coat? Another key piece in my wardrobe. TTS, if between, don’t size up!)

(Top Pick – Naked Cashmere, no surprise)

Other Midi Dresses

Note – the Reiss dress isn’t cashmere, but I adore the ribbed material. And the V-neck Naadam dress is on deep discount.

Winter Essentials:
The Boots & Belt

Boots (same boot/similar color) | Belt (TTS)

This belt. Tammy bought it first – that happens frequently. One of us buys something, and then the other HAS to have it. It’s a problem. It’s a forever belt, and we can’t recommend it more. It comes in a ton of colors but this cognac/natural color is so versatile. And it looks equally amazing with jeans. For more details – Isabel Marant Lecce Belt Review – It’s Brilliant!

The Loeffler Randall Goldy boots are basically boot perfection. They do have a 3.5″ heel, but trust me, these boots were made for walking. I’m a giant baby with heels and these are easy peasy (I’m talking walking out to dinner comfortable). But if heels aren’t your thing, they do come in a lower heeled version – the Gia boot.

They come in a ton of gorgeous colors, but I’m wearing cognac – a warm, rich brown – which annoyingly keeps selling out. There are a few sizes popping in an out of sock. The color Safari ( also linked above) is very close – just has a coooler tone – but equally gorgeous and versatile. Size wise, I’m wearing my normal boot size.

Winter Essentials

These are a few of my Winter essentials – trust me, there are a few more. Lug boots, snow boots, sweaters – I’m looking at you. We’ll save those for another post though. A wardrobe doesn’t function without these key staple pieces. THESE are the ones worth investing in – the pieces that you wear over and over again. My advice? Pick a piece each season to invest in and start building your forever wardrobe. It takes time, but it’s SO worth it.

x Rachel
