My Go-To Summer Basics – Tank, Sunnies, Bag – Check!

Wearing a Veronica Beard white tank with Re/Done ripped 90s jeans and a silver Clare V bag with Celine sunglasses.

My go-to Summer basics: An easy white tank (check), an amazing pair of sunglasses (check) and a great everyday bag (check).

Go-to Summer Basics: The White Tank

I’m wearing the Veronica Beard Kamilya tank. It’s just a perfect tank to wear everyday – ALL Summer long. I sized up to a small for a little added roominess. This will hands down be my most reached for piece this Summer.

This tank is so light and airy for Summer. I love the cut because it’s roomy and comfortable – and added bonus, the straps make it easy to wear with a regular bra. Also the simplicity of it makes it extremely versatile – a lot of tanks with this cut have a chest pocket, which automatically makes them much more casual and less versatile. This one is basically perfect – and will also work great under a blazer or jacket in the fall.

I also have a very similar Rag and Bone tank in black – the cut is almost identical. In Rag and Bone, I also prefer a size up. You really can’t go wrong with either of these. Ooh, Anthony ATM (which makes my favorite white tee) also has a similar tank.  And Splendid has a budget friendly option with great reviews. I will include all options below.

I feel strongly about investing in these quality basics – they are truly the workhorses of your wardrobe. Worth it!

Go-To Summer Basics:  Sunnies

Celine |  Ray Ban (classic aviators) | Ray Ban (modern aviators)

Sunglasses are definitely not one size fits all… with fashion, I say throw away the rules. With sunnies, there is something to be said for face shape. I have a heart shaped face (think broad up top and narrow towards the bottom) – I definitely look best in aviators, cat eye etc.

Here is an article talking about current sunglass trends/face shapes.
The Best Sunglasses Guide 2021

My favorite trick for finding sunglasses? Once you know your face shape, google celebrities or other style icons that you love with the same face shape and see what they’re wearing. My favorite Celines for example – I spotted them on Reese Witherspoon and well, we have similar face shapes (not that we look alike in the least).

And let’s talk about my Celines (top left pic) – I have a petite face and sunglasses can easily overwhelm me. These manage to be oversized without looking ridiculous – and they definitely add a dose of glam to any outfit. I also love the color way – black fading to gray tortoise – it adds interest and makes them appear lighter than a full black frame.

My other go-tos are Ray-Bans. They are light weight, easy to wear and stylish. These 4 sunglasses are the ones that I wear on rotation and they each add a slightly different look to an outfit.

Tammy is completely different than me – she has an oval face and can rock a square frame – I wish! These are her two go-tos, they are both amazing!

Go-To Summer Basics:  A Good Bag

Wearing redone 90s jeans with a white Veronica Beard talk and silver Clare V bag.

I have quite a few Clare V bags and honestly didn’t really need a new Summer bag, but this silver one just got me. It is the perfect pop to a basic outfit and can easily be carried year-round. It’s roomy enough to carry all of your essentials with a little room to spare. I’m obsessed with this one – it’s making all of my Summer basics feel so fresh. And the jeans, well, my favorite for pairing with heels, expect to see a lot of them (you already have) – size up 1.

I also included my other 2 Clare V bags that get heavy use in the Summer, plus Tammy’s beloved Clare V Marisol bag.

Basic Outfit? Add a bright lip!

My favorite way to dress up a basic outfit? A bright lip every.single.time. And my favorite bright lip is hands down Westman Atelier’s lip suede palette. This lip palette is insanely versatile – you can mix colors, blot a small amount for a pressed in look, or use a lip brush to really amp it up. It’s amazing.

These are a few of my go-to Summer basics. And I’m all about basics –  it’s truly what I love to wear (on repeat). In my opinion, these are the items that you should invest a little more on…  buy quality basics that you love – always have something to wear.
