A Hidden Gem In the NSale – From Kristin (a Reader!)

For those of you that have been following our Nordstrom Sale coverage, you might remember that Tammy & I both were very intrigued by this Aves Les Filles double breasted coat (I recommended it as an alternative to the Rag & Bone coat that sold out super fast).

Well, one of our favorite readers, Kristin, ordered it and sent us a bunch of selfies. How awesome is that?! And we are here to tell you – this is a hidden gem in the Sale – and shockingly still fully stocked!

From Kristin

When I went through the NAS preview online, this coat was one that immediately caught my eye. I added it to my wish list but didn’t pull the trigger on purchasing it right away because I’m trying to be strategic about any more coats added to our hall closet!

I have a few wool coats but none this style and I kept thinking about this one. I live in the upper Midwest and I wear a winter type coat for 5-6 months of the year so sometimes I feel like no one ever sees anything I’m wearing beyond my coat and what peeks out from under my coat!

It arrived a little creased so I steamed the front to get a good picture of what it looked like on and I’m here to report I love it! From a distance I think it almost looks grey in appearance, but you can see up close it has small pink and black stripes.

I styled it over a variety of different types of looks to make sure it would be something I would reach for on a regular basis.

Fit and Feel Notes: I am 5’10” and typically wear either a small or medium in coats. I bought a small in this coat and still have room for a thick sweater underneath. This is a long coat at 45” in length. I would consider it more of a medium weight winter coat. I envision being most comfortable in it in the 20-40 degree range. The lining is polyester, and the outer is polyester and wool.

With My Winter Uniform:  Sweater + Denim + Boots

Rachel – This is basically the perfect Winter uniform right here. Love everything about this!

Keeping it Casual:  Distressed Denim + Graphic tee + Sneakers

The Avec Les Filles Coat | Jeans (size down 1)

Rachel – Gosh, a girl after my heart wearing my favorite Agolde jeans and sneaks. Love the polish this coat adds to a casual outfit. Totally my vibe.

Rachel – That pink sweater is everything with this coat. So so good.

Date Night, but Make it Edgy:  Silk blouse + Leather pants + Combat Boots

Rachel – Yesss!! Lug boots will be everywhere this Fall and Winter and I’m loving them with this coat. A perfect match.

Dress It Up:  Sweater Dress and Tan Boots

The Avec Les Filles Coat

Rachel – I mean, I’m speechless. This is stunning…every single detail. And Kristin, we need details on that bag.

We can’t thank Kristin enough for putting this together for us – we are blown away! And this coat is basically perfect. I love that it is a subtle pop of color but at the same time very neutral (if that makes sense – ha!). I can’t believe it’s still fully stocked – I’m seriously debating ordering it to compare to the Rag and Bone. It’s a fraction of the cost and looks amazing!

  2. I wouldn’t necessarily reach for a purple coat to add to my closet (I know the description says “pink and black” but I can’t stop seeing purple!) but I am LOVING this pop of color, and it seriously looks soooooo good with everything Kristin styled it with. Makes me think it might not be a bad idea to take the plunge on this beautiful coat! Thanks for the post…I really love all the different pics!

    • We love it too. Totally understand about the seeing purple, I think it’s the way it photographs. Kristin sent me a close-up pic and it’s definitely pink/black almost like micro stripes. Very very pretty!!! WE love it.
