Is Cult Gaia Worth It? A Review of 3 Bags…

I’m a super fan of cute and edgy bags. The question…is Cult Gaia worth it? This is my review of Cult Gaia bags.

The Company

In looking at Cult Gaia’s About page, they list their manifesto in 8 parts, including the following.

To curate a wardrobe full of magic, one that glows with each accessory.

This one speaks directly to my heart. I get pretty passionate about fashion and accessories – it’s just who I am.

We create items that are first, Objet d’Art and secondly, that have utility. Many of the bags we create stand on their own and have a very sculptural quality about them. Our design ethos is to make things stand out and turn heads. Pieces should be perfectly imperfect and need to be nuanced to be beautiful, like nature, no two things are ever the same.

Cult Gaia sells clothes and multiple accessories, but I’ve only ever bought bags, so that’s what my review will focus on.

The Mini Ark

Cult Gaia Mini Ark (Nordstrom)

The Cult Gaia Mini Ark (sometimes referred to as small) is the first Cult Gaia bag I bought and it happens to be one of the best sellers on the blog. It regularly sells out, and when it does go back in stock, they are usually sold quickly. Nordstrom is the only store that has stock at the moment.

It currently sells at a mere $108. The number of times I’ve used it, it’s practically free at this point!

My friend texted me the other day.

This is so funny! I got compliments on my purse from a guy sitting next to me at the bar!

She and her husband were sitting at a favorite local Mexican restaurant, and it was the first time she had ever taken hers out. Yes, it is attention getting. And yes you will get asked about it every time you use it. It’s just that adorable and unique.

It is small and I will post a video with what it carries. I often carry my iPhone 12 Max Pro, my card wallet, lip balm, keys, air pods, plus a thin or soft sunglasses case.

It will stand up on its own, but it can also “roll” a bit if someone knocks into it. One negative is that I can’t hook it on the back of my chair so I either put it on the table (not always convenient) or if there is room, on a chair beside me. I have also lain it flat on my knee with my napkin over it.

Verdict

Is Cult Gaia worth it? In the case of the mini Ark, it absolutely is. I have used this bag more times than I can even remember. The $108 price tag is so worth it.

Coco Top Handle

The Cult Gaia Mini Coco Tote is this summer’s new favorite style. As with many of Cult Gaia’s bags, it comes in multiple sizes. I have the Mini Coco which is currently only available at at Saks in my size and colorway.

I choose this over my Ark when I have more things to carry. I also love the flat bottom and the bracelet handle – I can just slip my wrist in to carry it.

The design is unique and pretty and I know I’ll have this for many years to come.

Verdict

Is Cult Gaia worth it? In the case of the Mini Coco top handle, it’s a new favorite. I have used it a ton already in the few months I’ve had it.

Hera Nano

I bought the Cult Gaia Hera Nano last winter before the holiday season. I love the sparkle on this bag and I wore it for every single holiday event plus I plan to wear it for a few Gala events I have this summer.

They now make this bag in 7 gorgeous colors.

Crafted from eye-catching rhinestones, this classic design exudes femininity and grace with a knotted shoulder strap and a gorgeously slouchy silhouette.

It really is a stunner! As with any rhinestone bag, you will want to treat it gently, but I didn’t find it to be overly snaggy as many bags of this style are.

Another friend got the bag and found a flaw in the handle, so I recommend looking it over carefully.

I’ve used mine just under ten times and it’s still in perfect condition.

Verdict

Is Cult Gaia worth it? In the case of the Hera Nano, if you want something special and sparkly, it’s worth consideration. Just make sure you plan to treat it respectfully and it should be a fabulous purchase.

If you like eye-catching and unique bags at a reasonable price, then Cult Gaia should be one of your first stops. They are some of my all-time favorite bags and friends who have them also say the same.

I’m always excited when they come out with new styles, and I love that Nordstrom also carries Cult Gaia now, often in-store.
