For The Love Of Fashion (and Our Current Favorite Jeans)

Favorite outfits for spring 2021 includes Agolde Riley jeans, Zadig Christy camisole and flash sneakers, Mother Tripper jeans and Zadig sweater with toy poodle.

Who knew how much planning goes into starting a blog…A LOT! And it appears that no amount of planning or preparation leaves one feeling truly “ready” for this endeavor. Like most things in life, it requires a leap of faith…so ready or not, here we come!

We are sucking up our fears, throwing away the idea of perfectionism, and doing it anyway because we LOVE fashion…we particularly love easy everyday fashion. We love women, and we want to help women feel a little more badass thru style.

So, here it is! Our very first blog post…we are no longer blogger virgins. Being that we are ‘Denim Is the New Black’ it felt obvious that our first post had to be denim related. We are keeping this one simple and sharing our current favorite jeans…styled for both day and night. Because a good pair of jeans will take you far!

Tammy’s current favorite jeans

Confession time…my obsession with jeans began probably at age 13 when I discovered ‘Fancy Ass’ jeans (yes, seriously)! I grew up in Canada and any American friend I’ve mentioned this brand to has no idea what I’m talking about — you guys don’t know what you were missing! Think zippers all the way around or up the sides of the legs. Sigh, the 80’s, am I right?!

Thankfully I’ve progressed from ‘Fancy Ass’ jeans. I bought my first pair of Mother jeans almost two years ago and the love affair began. My husband looks in my closet and thinks all my jeans look alike. But wait, these are ripped, these are faded, these are cropped, these have raw hems, these are dark (and therefore dressier) and so on. I try to ignore the look I get when I bring home yet another pair (sorry, not sorry)!

The pair I get asked about most often are also one of my favorites – Mother ’The Tripper Chew’ in Cryin’ Cowboys (I want to know whose amazing job it is to name these washes). They are true to size (26 for me) and are the perfect balance of faded and destroyed (my own mother would disapprove of anything that has purposeful rips…oh well).

The best thing about them is that they are crazy comfortable, do not bag out (I do NOT wash my denim very often, to be discussed in another post), and can be easily dressed up or down. They still look as good as the day that I brought them home. And the style is still so current with today’s looser fit, but these have a tighter fit in the stomach and butt to suck everything in nicely. My actual pair is not currently available, but I linked a very similar pair with the most amazing wash for spring and summer.

Here, I’m wearing them to walk the dogs, ha! We had actually been out running errands and they ran into the garage to greet us, desperately wanting some love. Also, these Eileen Fisher shoes are almost as comfortable as sneakers.

There’s something that I adore in the juxtaposition of pairing ripped jeans with dressier pieces. It’s one of my all-time favorite go-to styles. Expect to see me wearing this formula a lot during the life of this blog (which is hopefully a long time!)

My favorite spring outfits include Maje eyelet open back top and Mother Tripper jeans with Sam Edelman Hazel pumps with Loeffler Randall feather bag.

How many jeans are too many? Asking for a friend…ha! I love ALL the jeans…straight, skinny, boyfriend, “mom”, flares – you get the idea. But, if I had to pick my current favorite jeans, it would be, without question, my Agolde Rileys (in whiplash).

These jeans have the look of rigid (100% cotton) denim which gives them a vintage vibe, but they are actually made of 59% lyocell, 40% rayon, and 1% elastane, which makes them insanely comfortable. In addition, they hold their shape well…no baggy knees or bum in-site – even after multiple wears.

One of my go-to pairings is my favorite Zadig & Voltaire high tops (but any sneaker would work).

Dinner plans? No problem! These babies are a piece of cake to dress up. Heels would be a no-brainer, but I went with booties here (chilly Denver temps).

Wearing a leopard print Free People tshirt, Agolde Riley jeans in Whiplash, and black Jeffrey Campbell boots for a night out.

THANK YOU for reading our first post! We are beyond excited for what’s to come, and cannot wait to share more fashion finds (and real-life shenanigans). We guarantee complete authenticity, and only sharing pieces that we love and wear (on repeat). We also guarantee that we will be far from perfect (and likely a little awkward at times – think Insta reels…I die)!

Cheers!

  1. I love the distressed jeans Tammy is wearing! I am a big fan of wearing belts with my jeans, like basic black and brown leather belts. I would like to see some of Tammys belts she pairs with her jeans

    • Tammy and I were just talking about doing a belt roundup…neither of us typically wear a lot of belts, but we are interested in trying that look again. And we love the suggestions – keep them coming! xx
