Yes, You Can Wear Your Silk Camisole In the Winter!

It’s no surprise we love a good silk camisole. We both practically live in them year-round. Yes, even when it’s cold!

A silk camisole pulls double duty for us in the winter. One – under a sweater for extra warmth. Two – over fitted tops for that burst of color we all kind of need in the colder months. Silk is such a versatile fabric – it acts as a great warming base layer when it’s chilly and also has that wonderful cooling factor in the summer.

You all went a bit nuts for Rachel’s article on layering a silk camisole for the holidays. In case you haven’t read it, it holds true all winter long, fwiw.

Cami NYC Sizing and Fit

I haven’t had a lot of luck with Cami NYC camisoles in the past. At 32DDD, I always found them to fit a little tight in the bust (even sized up to M). I really love some of their colors, so I decided to try again but this time I ordered large (something I’ve never had to do, but whatever). Anyway crazy enough, it fit in the bust.

In this Cami NYC Racer style, Rachel wears S and I guess I am a solid L. We say don’t worry about a number or size — every brand fits every body differently. Don’t ever let a number or size shame you. Screw that crap in 2022!

My New Favorite Bodysuit

For layering, we are both fans of the James Perse fitted tshirts (we like to buy James Perse at Nordstrom Rack for a fraction of the retail price)! However, it can be annoying to keep two layers nicely tucked, especially when you want your silk camisole to blouse out. A bodysuit eliminates that issue.

Recently I paired the black bodysuit with black dress pants and it’s a surprisingly elegant combination. You can see how this bodysuit provides a smooth and polished base but can also stand on its own thanks to the fabric content (TENCEL/Outlast viscose/polyamide/elastane) which is thick and stretchy but also holds you in beautifully.

I have a long torso and normally can’t wear bodysuits (or even one-piece bathing suits). This is sized to fit a longer torso with adjustable snaps so it should work for everyone.

Also note that this particular style is cut in a gentle thong and I had zero issues with visible panty line. Plus bonus, no wedgies, ha!

I sized up to M/L to accommodate my wider bust and longer torso and it’s a perfect fit. Next I plan to try some of their long sleeve styles!

California-Approved Winter Accessories

I’m often amazed how dramatic the temperatures can change throughout the day here, during the winter. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but it also means needing to be prepared when we plan to be out all day and night. Sometimes I just keep my winter pieces in the car so that I don’t forget. I’ve had a few too many times where I’m caught somewhere freezing because I didn’t plan ahead.

And Rachel got me hooked on beanies this year. I honestly didn’t know how much I needed one until I started wearing them. No more earaches for this girl. It’s been transformative! I’ve also just found a beret style that I’m dying to try next.

And I’m sad to report that it looks like my Theory coat is completely sold out, but good news, Rachel’s Anine Bing Dylan is back in stock and it’s just as fabulous (I’ve tried both and they are equally good). In the Theory I am wearing small but in the Anine Bing, Rachel and I both needed XS (it runs roomy). If you are in between sizes, take the smaller of the two.

The Best Knee-High Boots

We both considered these Loeffler Randall Goldy boots for a couple years but finally pulled the trigger this fall. They are seriously our favorite! We’ve both loved dressing them up and down and they are so comfortable with zero break-in time for me. I sized up to 8, as I usually do with boots, and they are perfection on me.

Our cognac color has sadly been sold out for some time, but this Safari color is similar and slightly lighter. These are a forever purchase and guaranteed to be a classic staple for many years to come.

This Bag Goes With Everything

We aren’t kidding when we say this bag will go with almost everything. We love our Clare V. bags, but this one holds a special place in our hearts. We’ve both used this bag so much (both as a clutch and as a tote when we add a strap), that we’ve more than gotten our money’s worth already. I can guarantee this bag would go with any solid silk camisole you pair it with.

Jeans (TTS, 26) | Silk Camisole (up to L)

I’m loving this silk camisole so much that I wore it last night to our monthly Chamber of Commerce event (including those summer favorite Lee jeans remember?). And bonus, my BFF and I matched without even meaning to. I call that winning.

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite sayings of all time.
