Perhaps our favorite thing for Spring is a gorgeous white statement top. Something that looks incredibly chic dressed up with jeans and heels, but also a little “cool girl” when paired with cut-offs and sneaks. This Spring in particular, lace and eyelet seem to be everywhere…and we are swooning.
Tammy and I discovered a few stunning eyelet tops by Reiss – a new brand for us, and we were blown away by the quality and style – it just might be a new brand favorite. But first, I’m going to go a little off topic and talk about investment pieces…
Investment pieces are the items that we choose to spend a little more on…the higher dollar pieces. To me, these fall into two categories (1) workhorse pieces – think jeans, boots, neutral colored sweaters and (2) WOW pieces – stunning tops, that dress you can’t stop thinking about, etc.
These Reiss tops are incredibly well-made and have a ton of detail, which makes them expensive, and they are definitely show-stoppers. We feel that these tops are worth the investment for TWO reasons. One, they are truly timeless – these are items that you will literally have forever. And two, you can wear these tops almost anywhere (dressed up and down) ALL Spring and Summer long.
Rachel – Reiss Naina top
I was scrolling through Nordstrom online when I stumbled upon the Naina top by Reiss…my jaw dropped, I clicked add to cart, and purchased without a second thought. A clear indication that I LOVED this top. It has that perfect balance of sweet and edgy which is so hard to find, and the details are simply gorgeous. I was a little worried that it would feel stiff, but nope – it is incredibly soft with a great drape.
Now, I know what you’re going to say…what about all of the cut outs…what do you wear underneath? Well, that is definitely a bit of a personal styling preference. For me, I love to add a pretty black lace bra to amp it up a bit. It adds subtle sexiness and makes it less precious, but also doesn’t feel “too much” thanks to the conservative cut. However, you could easily add a camisole or nude bralette instead.
Here, I styled it casually with cut-offs and sneakers…I could not love this look more. This whole situation makes me giddy and will be a go-to favorite for me.

Tammy – Reiss Dottie top
I spend a fair amount of time looking at the “What’s New” sections on my favorite sites (Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Revolve, just to name a few). Rachel and I were on the hunt for white eyelet tops and a lot of them were either severely cropped or I worried they’d be too tight in the bust (32DDD is not always the easiest for finding tops that fit well). And then, we stumbled on these stunning eyelet tops by Reiss. What I love about the Reiss Dottie is the romantic detailing, the lower front neckline, and the soft drapey fabric.
This top is sadly mostly sold out in white, however it also comes in a gorgeous navy that is fully stocked. The navy would be so good with distressed denim – Rachel is drooling over it. We also linked a ton of alternatives at the bottom of this article – there are a so many good ones! Also a quick note that retailers seem to be stocking less inventory, and once an item is gone, it’s often gone for good. So, if you find something that you really love, snag it before it’s too late.
This top looks great with cut-offs, and yes, it’s getting warm enough in California for shorts. I always get so excited for each new season, no matter how mild each one is.

I wore with jeans and low heel sandals to go sunglasses shopping. I got so many compliments! I wore it with a nude bra and it wasn’t noticeable in the least. The sleeves also look great pulled up, which I forgot to do for pictures, oops! Pro photographer tip: parking garage light is kind of magical, no?
