We often get asked “Are MOTHER Jeans Worth it?” We are pretty serious about our denim…I mean, we are ‘Denim Is the New Black’ after all. So we are here to give the scoop!

New Styles
One of the best things about MOTHER denim is the variety of styles. In our opinion, that means there is something for everyone.
Every season, MOTHER comes out with new styles, and I recently bought the MOTHER Study Hover in colorway Peaches and Scream. I’ve been wearing them practically non-stop because they are that good.
Left: Shirt (size up) | Jeans (TTS) | Sneakers (basic black) | Bag | Sunglasses
Right: Sweater (similar) | Jeans (TTS) | Bag | Bag Strap
They have a 12 1/2″ rise (the perfect rise, in my opinion) and a 29″ inseam – great for wearing full length or cuffing!
MOTHER Study Hover is TTS for both of us (Tammy is 26 and Rachel is 25).
They are technically rigid denim, but I’ve never met a pair of MOTHER jeans that weren’t exceptionally soft right from day one, and these are no exception. These are comfortable and fun, and most of all – fresh!
And I know you all care about that back view (as we all do) and these are just good. From the serious distressing on the pockets to the perfect shape and pocket placement…these are swoon-worthy!

I recently wrote about my second new pair, the MOTHER Rambler in colorway Holy Melancholy. When Spring hits, I just can’t resist new distressed denim!
Sweater (TTS, wearing S) | Jeans (size up) or (final sale here) | Shoes (TTS) | Bag (similar)
A slightly lower high rise at 11 1/4″ and a cropped inseam of 27 1/2″, these have a similar shape to my Trippers (below).
MOTHER Rambler runs small (Tammy sized up to 27).

Older Styles
In our very first article, when we wrote about our favorite jeans at the time, mine were, no surprise at all, a pair of MOTHER Tripper. In fact, I still regularly wear and love them, and I’ve had them for at least three years, so there you go! Since then, I bought a second “clean” pair of Trippers and they are by far, the easiest pair I own.
I won’t bore you with every single pair of MOTHER jeans we’ve ever worn (we’d be here all day) but you can also search the site if you are looking for new inspiration.

We are currently working on an article which will detail all the MOTHER denim we own, including all the styles and sizing tips. We know those names can get confusing, and sizing isn’t always consistent with this brand.

The Brand
The name MOTHER plays off the idea of duality – it can be nurturing or a cuss. It evokes unconditional love and teenage rebellion all at the same time. The brand’s attitude and collections always present a juxtaposition of hard and soft.

Huh, no wonder we love them so much! Not gonna lie – reading their About Us page has me even more devoted, particularly their tagline of “WE STAND FOR HAVING FUN, AND NOT TAKING YOURSELF TOO SERIOUSLY.”
Okay, I think we should just all adapt that motto forever and ever. Yes?!
We also love their commitment to minimizing their carbon footprint and the work on charitable collaboration. Good stuff.

Conclusion

We get it…premium denim is not cheap. But we also believe you get what you pay for. We’ve had our MOTHER jeans longer than any other brand we own. And more importantly, we actually wear them all the time, which takes the cost per wear down to practically nothing in the long run.
We just love their unique designs (and if you don’t like one wash, there’s usually several others to choose from) and they fit our bodies so darn well.
So we stand by our love of MOTHER denim and we both say that yes MOTHER jeans are definitely worth it.

More Inspiration
I was so resistant to the Converse Chuck Taylor High Top trend that’s been happening. Don’t get me wrong – I love the look! But my 18 year old daughter has been wearing them for ever. And so I thought, at 49, maybe this is one I should sit out.
Except that my daughter had this insanely cute pair sitting in her closet, unworn, because they were too big for her, and lucky me, they fit perfectly. So I decided to try them out.
Guess what? I adore them. Like seriously madly in love. These are a special Love style (they occasionally offer specialty styles on their site or in their stores). While the solid color probably makes them a bit more appropriate for my age, I’m over the moon about these, so screw age-appropriate, ha!
One thing I did decide – I’m leaving the Converse Platform for her. The tall white platform definitely felt too young on me. But otherwise, I say, go for it!
