I have lived in warm climates for the past 23 years – North Carolina, Hawaii, and San Diego. If it’s one thing I know, it’s sandals, as I practically live in them.

And we have both now spent countless hours over the last month trying on, scouring the internet, and reading all the reviews. We got you!

Platforms are HUGE right now. It’s probably the number one shoe trend that you will see literally everywhere. If you enjoy getting inspiration from the runways, this article.

Of course, our picks are a little more wearable and practical (real life and all that), but they are equally fun and chic.

My top pick in this category are these Paige Rory Clog Platforms, the perfect mix of clog and platform all in one perfect shoe. I first saw them in store and immediately snapped them up.

I’ve already been asked…”but are they comfortable?” Honestly? They really ARE! I’m as surprised as the next person, but I seriously adore them.

They are TTS in size 7.5 and had zero break-in time for me. A total win on these! They are selling out fast at Nordstrom, but appear to be fully stocked at Paige.

Affordable Picks:

We have both tried the Jeffrey Campbell in a few colors and they are a solid choice and also super chic. And the two colorful picks from Naturalizer add the pop of color we are always raving about. You can’t go wrong with any of them!

Strappy Heels

Once again, my top pick in this category is from Paige. I’ve worn mine a lot already. They are gorgeous in every way, and equally comfortable for a heel this height. I am smitten with the wrap ankle strap, that perfect light gold (not too gold…), and the cork heel. I mean come on!

They scream summer and can be dressed up or down. I did size down 1/2 to 7 as they ran a smidge long on me. I could have gone either way on this one. If your foot is wider, stick with your true size.

Affordable Picks:

This was a hard section to narrow down. There are some really good affordable strappy sandals and we love them all. Rachel is especially partial to the Vince Camuto Roselian in Lime.

Strappy Flats

We haven’t had a chance to try any of these on yet, but they are giving us vibes of our favorite Sam Edelman Tihana sandal from last year.

Sam Edelman Tihana (sized down 1/2 to 7)

While the Sam Edelman Tihana are last year’s and mostly sold out, there are a few left on huge sale in black.

And we’ve found all our favorite alternatives. The shoes we would be ordering if we didn’t already have these.

Affordable Picks:

A. Emery is a new-to-us brand but we plan to order a pair or two to try from Neiman Marcus. Minimalist and chic, these sandals are calling our names.

We are also fans of the new Sam Edelman Meriai but reviews say they run large which I found to be true with last year’s Tihana, so we recommend sizing down 1/2.

Slide / Wedge Heels

Slides are one of the easiest shoes to slip on and go. I truly do love a shoe I don’t have to sit down to put on! We both have and love the Veronica Beard Ganita (Silver Accessories Complete an Outfit) and the new colorways are equally good. Veronica Beard shoes never disappoint.

And I honestly love the Veronica Beard wedge. I have an affordable pair from last summer by Jeffrey Campbell (see below) and there’s just something so fabulous about a good wedge.

Affordable Picks:

In this area, Jeffrey Campbell is typically our go-to. Both my pairs from last summer are still available in alternate colorways, and I still wear them regularly and both are super cute and comfortable.

Flats / Slides

You’ve already seen me wax poetic about the Patricia Green Hallie (Best Hermès Oran Dupe Sandals).

Rachel loved them so much she recently ordered and is also head over heels. Apparently they can’t make these shoes fast enough and they keep selling out, so that’s certainly a testimony!

I am actually awaiting the Veronica Beard Davina to be delivered so I can try them, too. I promise to update as soon as they come in. I really love that chic minimalist style. Similar to my beloved Birkenstock with just a touch more style.

Affordable Picks:

Our one and only pick for this section is everyone’s favorite…Birkenstock. I prefer to get the soft footbed version as they are a lot more comfortable. Katie Holmes is also a huge Birkenstock fan!

Flip Flops

After living in Hawaii for three years, the only flip flop I will wear is by OluKai. They have styles to suit every personality – some are even waterproof for the beach and pool. Seriously – there’s nothing like them.

Sport Sandals

Rachel has had a pair of Arizona Love sandals for a few years and they are definitely pretty and fun. I adore the red and actually bought the matching Arizona Love bandana tote when it showed up on sale.

Affordable Picks:

Both my daughter and I have and LOVE our Tevas. They are not only affordable, but also seriously comfortable. I usually walk my dogs in mine all summer long when it’s too unbearable to wear closed toe shoes. They come in a lot of cute colors, too!

Waterproof

Almost done, phew! We saved one of the most important but overlooked shoes for last. In my opinion, everyone needs a good pair of waterproof sandals for the beach, the pool, any time there’s a possibility of water. Again, I have to go with our favorite Birkenstock, this time in their super affordable waterproof version.

Trust me when I say these are worth every.single.penny. And while mine are a few years old, they still look and feel brand new, and if something ever happened to them, I would be ordering a replacement pair immediately.

I even leave mine outside all year for easy slip on to take the dogs potty. Still look brand new.
