The Emerald Midi Dress by Staud

I had two goals when shopping with Tammy in San Diego a few weeks ago – a pretty Fall blouse (see my article here) and a dress I’d be excited to wear all season long.

We both stopped in our tracks when we saw this emerald green dress by Staud – the color is absolutely to die for. It’s a merino-wool-blend midi style dress with a side slit that is just high enough to be a smidge sexy – but totally appropriate for the kids’ school (for example).

I adore the v-neck and spread collar – it’s perfect for layering necklaces. I’m wearing my beloved Marla Aaron stack that I’ve been collecting for a while. I get asked about my Marla pieces all the time and a reader recently requested an article – coming soon!

The ribbed cuffs and hem are another detail that make this dress extra special. And comfort wise? It’s a 10/10.

This is a dress you can wear all Fall and Winter. It’s even perfect for holiday cocktail parties. More on that below…

I am typically an extra small – small in dresses and sized up to a medium in this dress. I do not like anything clinging to my tummy (hello three kiddos and approaching mid-40s). The dress  in one size up skims perfectly while not accentuating the tummy area.

With these types of dresses, I do feel more comfortable with a little support. I’m wearing these Spanx in nude – size small. They hold me in without squeeezing or creating any bulges (the worst!). Also when it’s cooler out, I don’t mind the added warmth.

How I’m Styling It for Fall

With Tall Boots

I adore this dress styled with tall brown boots for Fall. I’m wearing my beloved Loeffler Randall Goldy boots in cognac. These boots are classicly chic – one of those pieces that will forever be stylish. They are amazing quality and the leather just gets better with time. And comfort wise? I’d say  7.5/10. I’m a baby when it comes to heels and I’m totally fine walking a few blocks to dinner in these.

And Faux Fur

My faux fur jacket is a few years old. Again, this is one of those pieces that you buy once and wear for years. I love the lighter brown/camel color because even though it’s gorgeous to dress-up, it can also easily be worn during the day (sneaks, please.)

I did a round-up of a few pretty coats that are most similar to mine.

Add A Statement Bag

If you regularly follow the blog, I’m sure you recognize my Clare V leopard bag. My exact one is  currently sold out, but there is a very similar one available. This bag is the perfect pop of print that works with basically my entire closet.

Holiday Parties? It Dresses Up!

So while this dress is amazing for Fall, it’s also pretty perfect for holiday season too. Cocktail party? I’m totally dressing this up. This would be my formula to make this dress cocktail party ready (sorry no photos friends, I’ll definitely photograph this soon and update this article.)

And yes, I’ll probably throw my black Moncler puffer over it because I’m in Denver (puffers are basically acceptable everywhere). And this Moncler coat is seriously chic enough to dress up. Any black coat would look amazing.

This dress is a stand-out in emerald green. It’s crazy chic with an effortless vibe – and amazingly comfortable. Definitely size up one and wear this dress all Fall & Winter…trust me, it’s the only dress you need.

Cheers,
Rachel
