Our Top 10 Fall Indulgences

We are more excited than ever about the change of seasons and approaching holiday season this year. After a very rough 2020, I think we can all agree that a little JOY is more than deserved. So we say, light that special candle, indulge in a few things that feel extra special and soak it all up. In that spirit, we are sharing our top 10 Fall indulgences…

1 – A Cashmere Sweater

Naked Cashmere

We love our cashmere. It’s probably what we wear most in Fall & Winter (and Spring too). Tammy recently did an amazing brand review of Naked Cashmere and we are smitten. We both added a few new Naked cashmere pieces to our collection this season, and it’s safe to say this is our new favorite brand. Check out Tammy’s full review – here.

I was going to link all of our favorites and then realized I was basically linking everything. You seriously can’t go wrong. The above link will take you to their pullover sweaters – they are all seriously amazing.

2 – A Cozy Throw

I love a faux fur throw during the cooler months. It’s so cozy to snuggle up with by the fire and also looks super elegant on the back of the sofa. If faux fur isn’t your thing, you really can’t go wrong with Barefoot Dreams.

3 – Anthropologie Candles

I stumbled into Anthropologie a few weeks ago and found the most beautiful display of Fall candles. These are the three that came home with me. Not only do they smell divine, but they are also stunning. I’ve been burning them at night with Netflix and the fireplace on low. Heavenly.

4 – A Festive Porch

Now that the the kids are getting older, I’m definitely ‘less is more’ when it comes to seasonal decorations. I will however always and forever love a pretty wreath and seasonal doormat. The colors in this dried magnolia wreath are Fall perfection – gosh, I may need this one. And it’s reasonably priced too.

5 – An Ember Mug
(And All The Essentials for a Matcha Latte)

First off – the Ember mug is a game changer if you’re a coffee/tea lover. No more cold coffee or reheating in the microwave which always makes me cringe a little. You set the mug to your desired temperature (there’s an app for that – ha!) and it will maintain that temperature for 1.5 hours – OR all day if you use the included coaster.

And while I love my coffee, in the afternoon I try and opt for a matcha latte instead. Here’s my  quick recipe:

  • Fill the Nespresso Aeroccino to the highest fill line with your milk preference (my favorite is full fat oat milk).
  • Add a scoop of green tea powder, I typically order the one I linked here from Amazon.
  • If you like a little sweetness, you can add honey to your preference.
  • Sprinkle with cimmamon & froth.
  • On a hot day, I’ll froth it cold and pour over ice. For cooler days, I froth it hot and use my Ember mug.

One of my favorite daily rituals.

6 – Perfume

I sorta quit wearing perfume for a while – I’m not really sure why – that is until Tammy re-introduced me. She is seriously the perfume guru and has the best taste. I don’t even try anymore; I just wait for her to tell me what to buy.

These two scents (both Tammy recommended) are a favorite for Fall & Winter. Definitely try before you buy – but we love these. I can’t believe I went without for so long. It’s one of our favorite induglences.

7 – Shower Rituals

I have naturally dry skin + I live in Colorado (if you’ve been here, you know – it’s dry!). I plan on doing an article on combating winter skin soon, but this is a little sneak peak. This is my 2x per week shower ritual that keeps me from getting that wintry dry skin.

1 – Dry Brushing: If you’ve never dry brushed, I highly recommend trying it. You can get a good dry brush on Amazon for under $10. Here is an article on ‘how to dry brush’ but the overall benefits are exfoliation (hello smooth skin) and detoxification. It also just feels good – I swear almost like you’ve had a massage. I dry brush right before jumping in the shower.

2- After dry brushing, I use the Nécessaire body exfoliator in the shower (I love the sandalwood scent) to sluff off any remaining dry skin.

3- When I get out of the shower with still damp skin, I apply a mixture of the Nécessaire body lotion and body serum, which is a hyaluronic acid treatment. And while these look pricey, a little goes a long way! I promise.

And that’s it – a luxurious shower ritual and dry skin be-gone.

8 – Warm Pajamas & A Matching Robe

Ok so I guess I shouldn’t say these are my favorite because I haven’t actually worn these yet, but I did order these pajamas in the color Sienna to try. I’ve been curious about the brand Skims for a while and decided to dip my toe into the brand with a new pair of pajamas. I’ve heard amazing things.

And that matching robe looks delicious – I don’t need a robe but if I did, this is the one I would try. As soon as these pajamas arrive, I will update this article.

9 – Cozy Around the House Shoes

In the Fall & Winter, I like to wear a pair of these cozy Birkenstocks around the house. I have the slide version in gray from a year or so ago – but gosh, if I had it to do over, I may have picked the old-school Bostons with shearling. Or those new mules that are sorta ugly-cute? Either way, these are a must for me in the cooler months.

10 – Bring The Outdoors In…

Hilton Carter Books

Wild At Home | Wild Interiors | Wild Creations

I’m plant-obsessed (50+ houseplants over here). But even if plants aren’t really your thing, just one nice houseplant can do wonders for the atmostphere of your house and mood on a gloomy day.

I’m always happy to give plant advice, but these are my favorite books by Hilton Carter. Not only are they really educational but they also make beautiful coffee table books. He also has an amazing Instagram page. Be warned, if you start following him, you might become plant obssessed too.

That concludes our top 10 Fall indulgences. This is our very favorite time of year. Soak it up – treat yourself. You’re worth it!
