Rachel’s Top Nordstrom Sale Pieces styled…
OK you guys, in the past I have often kept more than I should have from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – sometimes I tend to get a little caught-up, I guess you could say. This year I made a promise to myself that I would only keep what I absolutely loved – the pieces that I would pay full-price for…
I’ve been working on narrowing down my giant pile all week, and I think I’ve done pretty darn good. I’m keeping a fair amount but I’m returning even more. And the pieces that I am keeping are absolute workhorses for Fall and Winter. And to be clear, some of my returns are amazing pieces – often I just had something too similar. Tammy and I 100% stand by every recommendation that we have made thus far. If we wouldn’t personally buy it, we won’t recommend it. Ever.
And like many of you, there was a piece or two that got away from me – Vince Coatigan, I’m looking at you. I needed to size down in this and my order got cancelled. I’ve been stalking it every.single.day since but still no luck. If you were lucky enough to snag one, I’m sooooo jealous. And I haven’t given up hope yet.
**Important Note**
This is the time in the sale when many things look sold out, however people will start making returns. If you love a piece, we suggest adding it to your wish list and checking on it late at night or early in the morning, especially. There is a good chance that it will pop back. (As I’ve been working on this article, I’ve watched multiple pieces pop in and out of stock.)
There are quite a few pieces featured in this article that are currently showing as sold out, however I am including them here in case (1) you truly love it and are watching for a restock or (2) you already bought it and are looking for style ideas.
This was our first year covering the Anniversary Sale (3 month old blog here) and we are learning. Next year, I will have this style article out more quickly – promise. Thanks so much for understanding. And cheers to watching for restocks/returns.
Also for styling purposes I did use some pieces from my current wardrobe (non-Nordy sale). I mean, all Nordstrom Sale pieces for styling just seemed a little snooze-worthy. Many of the pieces I used for styling are my most-worn pieces and I linked those as well.
The Frame Chelsea Bootie – in Black
My #1 Pick in the Entire Sale (Currently fully stocked!)
I love these things…like really really love them. If I had to pick one item from the sale, I wouldn’t even have to think twice – it would be these. So, why do I love them so much? First of all the styling….they manage to be classic, sleek and incredibly edgy.
The heel height is also perfection in my book – 2″. Tall enough to give you a little lift, but still super comfy and walkable for everyday. And that shaft and detailing – I mean, it’s basically boot perfection.
And last but certainly not least, these boots work with every.single.style of jean. And I proved it!
The Frame Boots Paired with SIX Different Jean Styles
(not all in the sale)
Paige – Skinny-ish Jeans (in the sale, stocked, TTS) | Agolde 90s Jeans (size down 1) | Agolde “Momish” Jeans (TTS)
The Rest: Top (In the sale, fully stocked in black) | Bag
Mother – Flare (size up 1) | Mother – Straight (TTS) | Re/Done – 70s Stove Pipe (in sale, hoping for restocks, size up 1)
The Rest: Top (In the sale, fully stocked in black) | Bag
I challenge you to find a pair of jeans these boots don’t look good with…it can’t be done, I’m telling you. And the top that I’m wearing in these pics is Vince cashmere from the sale. I likely would have overlooked this one, but Tammy found it and raved about it. It’s amazing!
The Frame Top
Look 1: sweater | jeans (TTS) | sneakers (if between, size down) | coat (sold out, will watch for restocks) | purse (old) | sunglasses
Look 2: sweater | jeans (size up 1) | bag | shoes | sunglasses
We wrote an entire article about this top – it’s that good. Our combined top pick. See the article here – and I have no idea how, but as of right now, it is fully stocked.
The AllSaints Sweater
Look 1: Sweater – Dang, sold out but stocked at Revolve | Jeans (TTS) | Sneaks | Tote
Look 2: Sweater – Dang, sold out but stocked at Revolve | Boots (in sale) | Clutch (new color way)
Ok dang it guys, this sweater sold out, but I’m crossing my fingers for restocks (I’ve actually seen a few sizes pop in and out tonight). It is fully stocked (full price) at Revolve – and YES, I’d buy it at full price – without question. Tammy has this sweater and has been wearing it on repeat for 2+ years. It’s an amazing staple piece that isn’t boring. And you can button / unbutton as much or as little as you’d like.
The $30 Top That is SO Good
Top | Jeans (similar) | Frame booties | Sneakers | Crossbody Tote
This top is a no-brainer. Get it – I said so. Different colors and sizes keep popping in and out of stock so definitely keep an eye on it if your size is currently gone. Style this thing up and down – wear it on repeat. It has almost the exact same lines as the Allsaints top above for less than half the price. It is a waffle knit which lends it a more casual vibe.
The Killer Boots
Dress (sold out, hoping for restocks) | Bag | Boots (in sale, size up if between)
Ok you guys, so I’m sorry that the dress is currently sold out, gah, because it is good and definitely worth watching. I know I’m sounding like a broken record but I will keep looking for restocks. And if it’s actually gone, well a black midi dress is an easy find! We will work on it.
But the boots – they’re fabulous. Snag them. if you’re between sizes, go up. I love them paired with a dress. But also, above I paired them with jeans – and even though I haven’t rocked this look in quite some time, I’m feeling ready. These boots are gorgeous and for $150, you can’t beat them. They were a bit tricky to get on initially but as the suede loosened up, they got much easier to put on so keep that in mind.
The Slipdress that I Totally Fell For…
The Dress (size up 1)
The Rest: booties | Vince sweater (same as below)
I mean, what can I say, this thing is gorgeous. I’ve been singing its praises repeatedly on Instagram. And yep, once again, sizes are popping in and out. Style this thing up and down…all year long. I could have styled this a dozen more ways, but you get the idea. It’s supremely versatile. And the pattern and colors – so good (coming from a a quasi-pattern hater).
The Vince Cableknit Sweater
Sweater (TTS for me, size up if long waisted) | Jeans (similar) | Frame booties | Bag
This is just a great workhorse sweater. I actually got it home and realized I have almost the exact same Vince sweater from a prior year, so full disclosure, I’m not keeping this exact one. But if your wardrobe is lacking a cable knit sweater – grab it! Cable knit is majorly trending this Fall. Wear this one on repeat.
A Tailored (Menswear Inspired) Coat
Ok, going to start this off with, yep, my Rag and Bone coat sold out. BUT there are two others in the sale that are a fraction of the price and definitely worth a look. They are both great but I’m especially drawn to the pink/black one – love the lines and color of this one. Really good.
The menswear inspired coat that I didn’t know I needed – and how I’ll be wearing it. (And by the way, I’d style the above coats the exact same way!)
Look 1: Rag & Bone Coat | Tee (similar) | Jeans (TTS) Boots | Bag (old)
Look 2:Rag & Bone Coat | Tee | Jeans | Sneakers | Bag (old)
I really love this style of coat for making a very casual look appear more polished – I adore the juxtaposition of a tailored coat with sneakers or lug boots. It just works! These looks are what I will actually be wearing on the daily this Fall and Winter.
Camisole (old) | Feather Bag (Similar)| Frame Booties (in sale) | Pumps (similar)
And here, I really just wanted to show you how a quick change of shoes and bag take this coat from day to night. I mean, this coat dresses up really really well…I should have thrown it over a dress, because it will definitely shine there as well.
And Don’t Forget this North Face Jacket
North Face Jacket (size up 1) | Vuori Leggings | Sneaks | Tote
This is the jacket of my dreams for throwing over my workout gear in the Fall (and warmer Winter days). And, it is elevated enough to stand on its own with jeans. It is crazy soft and cozy – this is one that didn’t even make me think twice. Size up 1.
Also see my article here on all things Vuori – the only workout leggings I’ve been wearing recently.
That wraps up my top Nordstrom sale pieces styled. I truly hope this article doesn’t leave you feeling frustrated – I know there are a lot of things currently showing sold out. I also promise that returns will start flowing in and pieces will start popping back in stock – you just have to keep checking (multiple times a day if it’s a piece you really want).
Tammy and I had so much fun covering the Nordstrom sale for the first time and we have learned so much. We can’t wait to do this all again next year. We hope that you found our coverage helpful and that you found some pieces you love.
If you guys have any feedback for us, we’d love to hear it! We are learning everyday and want to keep getting better for you guys!
