My Favorite Vuori Pieces for Cycle, Yoga (& Beyond) + My Current Workout

I’m going to tell you guys all about my favorite Vuori pieces but first thought I’d talk about my actual workout since a few of you have asked…and if it’s a bore, just scroll down.

The Workout

I can be very laser focused about things…including my workouts. For example – I’ll go thru a 12-month phase where all I do is yoga – until one day I suddenly despise it and move onto something else. It’s not a great habit.

For the past year and a half I’ve been all about my Peloton and I do love it, but at the same time I’ve been feeling that familiar burn-out creeping in… In addition, I have really been struggling with tightness in my shoulders and back. Probably the increased time spent on my laptop (blog life) + not enough stretching.

John and Rachel yoga

So, I’ve ventured back into the yoga studio and it feels so good. It’s amazing how much better my back and shoulders feel after just a handful of classes. And I have a soreness in muscles that I haven’t used in a while. Mixing up your workouts really is critical…I’m slowly but surely learning this. (Pic is with the hubs at yoga…he’s a trooper.)

So what does my ideal week look like workout-wise? (And please know that this will happen in a blue moon of a week – but what I will aim to accomplish this Summer.)

  • 2-3 days a week: 30 min Peloton ride (I mix up the types of rides I do), 10 min of arms, 5 min ab, 5 min stretch
  • 1-2 days a week: A 60 min in-studio heated flow yoga session

Since I’ve mainly been working out in my basement for the past year and a half, I haven’t bought new workout clothes in a while. And honestly it’s my least favorite thing to spend money on – so most of my stuff is really old and needs to be tossed.

I have and love the Vuori performance joggers (as does Tammy)…definitely worth it! My favorite for lounging around and light weight enough for Summer. Because I love them so much I’ve really been wanting to try more of the Vuori line, so I did a deep dive. Let’s see what I found…

My Favorite Vuori Pieces for Yoga

Elevation Sports Bra (burnt clay) |  Clean Elevation Leggings (burnt clay)

My top pick for yoga is the Elevation legging and sports bra. The material is ridiculously soft – Vuori describes them as having an “ultra sueded handfeel”, and that about sums it up.

They are high rise and suck everything in nicely without feeling constricting. They are insanely comfortable – almost like wearing nothing. And even in the lighter colors that I tried, they manage to smooth everything out. Added bonus – they have a hidden zipped pocket on the waistband.

(If you’ve ever tried Beyond Yoga leggings, these are most comparable to those – but do a better job of holding in the tummy.)

Also, these would work equally well for Pilates, the treadmill, weights…really anything. But for me personally, I prefer this soft material for yoga.

I love that the sports bra has a high neckline. I typically wear a tank over my sports bra in yoga – but the conservative cut of this one + the ultra high rise of the leggings make me feel comfortable enough to toss the tank – rare for me.

Let’s talk sizing – I went with the XS in the leggings (for comparison, I’m typically a 4 in Lululemon) so I would say that Vuori runs a smidge larger than Lulu. In sports bras I sometimes size up to a medium, but in Vuori I’m definitely a Small. (I will say that the gray sports bra fit a smidge more snugly than the Clay, which is a little annoying.)

Vuori Clean Elevation set in weathered camo.

Elevation Sports Bra (light gray) |  Clean Elevation Leggings (camo)

This is the exact same set but in a light gray camo. I didn’t expect to love this print as much as I do – it’s very subtle (not an in-your-face camo) and makes the gray more interesting.

I am loving these light colors for Summer – and they mix and match together beautifully. So fresh! But, these pieces also come in a black camo and dark gray if you prefer.

Elevation Sports Bra |  Clean Elevation Leggings

A quick note on the lighter colors – they often show sweat (even the Lululemon leggings do). I went to a hot yoga class in the heathered camo leggings and I was dripping. Now, I wouldn’t say they showed NO sweat, but it was subtle – my husband was with me and I asked him to check the back and he didn’t notice sweat lines. So, I’ll call that a win. I think the pattern helps camouflage it (no pun intended).

I later worked out in the burnt clay leggings, and they definitely show sweat, which is a bit of a bummer. They do dry quickly and it’s not a deal breaker for me. But if that’s a no-go for you, I’d suggest either sticking with the darker colors or the gray camo.

And lastly, I have washed them – delicate cycle / line dried (even though the care instructions say they can be dried on low). They came out beautifully with zero pilling.

The Perfect To/From Tank – Or Keep It On for Class

Rachel leaving Core Power Yoga wearing Vuori leggings and tank.

Energy Tank | Clean Elevation Leggings

Now – while I might ditch the tank for class, I certainly need something to throw over my sports bra to get in and out of the studio. And while I love a sports bra with a high neckline (to keep the girls safely in place) – it’s a little trickier for pairing with tanks.

This tank is perfect. It has a similar high neckline so there is no awkwardness there – and I love the easy cut of it. It’s perfectly loose without being too oversized. I’m wearing an xs but may try a size up next time for a little more slouch.

The fabric is a Strato Tech fabric – so it’s definitely made for working out. If you prefer to stay covered, just leave it on for class. AND it’s UPF 30+! I mean, I’m sold. I’m ordering this one in a few more colors.

UPDATE: I ended ordered two more of these tanks – I am obsessed. I ended up preferring the size small (vs the XS).

My Close 2nd for Yoga

Energy Tank | Rib Studio Legging

I’m calling these my close second but as I’m typing this I’m thinking ugh – they are so good. The material is a bit different than the Elevation legging – it has a slicker feel (vs the suede like finish on the Elevation leggings). The Elevation legging is 72% polyester / 13% elastane whereas the Studio legging is 72% polyester / 28% elastane for comparison.

I love the super high rise and the ribbed waist band – it’s super flattering and might even hold you in a smidge better than the Elevations.

The reason I ultimately went the Elevation route is likely the versatility of mixing the pieces and the softness of the fabric. But these Studio leggings may be next on my list – in black. You really can’t go wrong with either.

My Favorite Vuori Pieces for Cycle

Clean Elevation Shorty

I know this is not exactly Earth shattering – but I prefer bike shorts for the Peloton versus full length leggings. I mean, if you’re a Peloton rider you get it – the more air flow the better.

This is basically a bike short version of the Elevation legging above – the same super soft suede like material, same high rise, same hidden pocket in the waist band. The fit is amazing – and did not dig into my legs.

What I didn’t love about these is the color – I loved this color for full length leggings but think I’d prefer a darker color for shorts (maybe it’s my pale legs that are throwing me off). I plan on exchanging these for the dark camo color.

And for the bike, I typically just wear a sports bra – and will definitely pair these with the  Elevation bra. But keep scrolling for a few more amazing tank options.

These bike shorts are perfect for working out, lounging, just about anything. So so comfy and flattering.

UPDATE: I exchanged these shorts for the dark camo color, and I love them!  They are amazing – my new favorite workout outfit for the Peloton (or heck, just lounging around the house).

My Favorite Vuori Pieces That Work for Everything

Plyo Tank  | Daily Legging

These are the daily leggings – and I love them (they are in my keep pile for sure). They are even a smidge more high rise that the Elevation and Studio leggings, and the drawstring tie adds a little something style wise. They have the same amount of elastane as the Studio leggings – so more of a sleek feels vs suede.

I really love these for lounging, the Peloton, yoga – really anything. This is a great all around legging – you can’t go wrong here. Wearing an xs.

And the tank?  This is the Plyo Tank in black. It is made of a rib knit and again has that high neck that I love. It also has a built-in bra with removable cups – so it is a one and done (no bra needed) tank. I ordered this in a small (the same size as my sports bras) and it was the right call.

Vuori says that this tank is best for yoga, pilates, hiking, low impact activities… If you are larger chested, I would agree. But, if you are smaller chested and don’t need as much support, this tank is extremely versatile.

1/2022 Update: Tammy and I are newly obsessed with these Vuori Halo pants for lounging. We highly recommend them – I wear a Small (25/26 in jeans) and Tammy wears a Medium (26/27 in jeans).

The Vuori Tank I Wish I’d Ordered

Vuori Lux Performance Tank

Lux Performance Tank

I have no idea why I didn’t order this one to try but I’m kicking myself. 500+ 5 star reviews. It looks like the perfect racerback for anything active.

My Favorite Vuori Pieces – But Are They Better than Lulu?

Ok, so I know the question will likely be – but are they better than Lululemon?

And my answer is that I think they are comparable quality wise.

Tammy and I both love Lululemon’s Wonder Under leggings in the Luxtreme fabric. But I’m not a huge fan of their Nulu fabric (which is their buttery soft fabric that is closest to Vuori’s Elevation legging.) I find that it tends to pill and is also thinner than the Elevations.

I have high hopes that my Vuori’s won’t pill – I’m only one wash in, but I will definitely report back.

Also, Vuori is committed to 80% sustainable materials by 2022, which is a big deal and shouldn’t be overlooked.

Please let me know if you guys have any specific questions about these pieces – I really do love them. And, I will say that as much as I hate spending money on athletic clothes – my new Vuori’s are putting a little pep in my step and making it much easier to talk myself into a ride or yoga class.

Cheers!
Rachel
