The Veronica Beard Scuba Blazer Review (Spoiler: It’s an A+)

This is the official Veronica Beard Scuba Blazer review because this beauty deserves a moment in the spotlight. A few days ago I talked about a few essential pieces in my closet (including this piece), but today is all about the blazer.

All the Details:

The Material

This blazer is made of 86% nylon and 14% elastane, so it is stretchy, wrinkle-resistant and super comfortable. This jacket is the perfect travel companion.

Style Details

It has functional snap buttons at the sleeves, which we adore for easily doing a quick sleeve roll for a relaxed look. It also has a single button closure and cool zip front pockets. It’s dickey compatible which means you’re able to pair it with any of the Veronica Beard dickeys – more on that later.

We always recommend starting with a black blazer. But if you’re looking to expand your collection, this blazer also comes in navy and white, which are both gorgeous.

Sizing

For me this blazer fits TTS, and I wear a size 2. Tammy sized down to a 4 because she preferred a more fitted look. Also note that Tammy is larger busted (DDD) and says single breasted blazers are the way to go and much more flatting than a double breasted blazer, making this one universally flattering. It literally looks good on everyone.

When it comes to sizing blazers we honestly recommend trying a few sizes to makes sure you get it right because everyone is built differently and has different fit preferences. If you don’t have a local store for easy try-ons, then we suggest biting the bullet and ordering two sizes to compare and returning one. When you’re making an investment purchase it’s more than worth the hassle.

Matching Pants

I do not have these pants but I’m contemplating them. Can you really go wrong with a black suit? So crazy versatile – wear to the office, while traveling or out to dinner (pair with a silk camisole and booties or heels). The same wrinkle resistant, stretchy fabric.

Style Ideas:

This blazer is really effortless to style and we could probably show you guys a hundred looks, but here are a few ways we have been wearing it most recently. And you can bet this is one that you’ll see a ton in the future.

Over A Graphic Tee

Blazer (TTS, wearing 2) | Graphic Tee (older – see recs below) | Pants (wearing 2, TTS or size down 1) | Bag | Boots (similar)

We adore a blazer over a graphic tee. It’s the perfect way to make a blazer little less serious + elevate a t-shirt. My Zadig t-shirt is sadly no longer available, but don’t worry. I’m a huge fan of graphic tees, and these are a few of current my favorites.

Favorite Graphic Tees

This outfit would be equally chic with denim, but I really love these Alex Mill Phoebe pants. Super high rise, wide leg, deep pockets and super cool seaming. They are a total steal for this price. More to come on these pants – in multiple colors including navy, khaki, white, and washed black.

Add a Dickey

Blazer (TTS, wearing 2) | Dickey | TeeHat | Jeans (TTS) | Boots | Bag

One of the coolest features of this blazer is that it’s compatible with all of the Veronica Beard dickeys. It’s magic for giving you a casual layered look without all of the bulk and totally takes the blazer in a different direction. This hooded gray sweatshirt dickey is a great starter one, and I’m eyeing a few others as well. Also hint: You can sometimes snag these on Postmark for less so it’s worth keeping an eye out.

Date night, dinner plans, girls night out? Whatever you have going on, this blazer makes it a snap to look chic. We love to throw it over a camisole with denim and heels. A look that’s forever stylish.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, a black blazer is a piece that every woman needs in their wardrobe. And our favorite is hands-down this Veronica Beard Scuba Blazer. It’s stretchy, wrinkle resistant and impossibly comfortable. And the fact that you can add the Veronica Beard dickeys just takes it over the top. This is a piece you’ll wear over and over again and it’ll take you just about anywhere.

Alternatives:

While the Veronica Beard Scuba Blazer is our top pick for a black blazer, there are a few others we like as well – at varying price points.

The Veronica Beard Miller Blazer

If you prefer a little more hardware, this blazer is exquisite. Rachel is considering it in navy or ivory/white for Spring. It’s also a Veronica Beard dickey jacket. Depending on your personal style, this one is equally good. For Rachel, the sizing is consistent with the Scuba blazer.

L’Agence Kenzie Blazer

This one has a similar vibe to the Veronica Beard Miller blazer with the pretty gold buttons.

The Smythe Classic Duchess Blazer

Another beautiful blazer – Tammy is considering a Smythe blazer in white for Spring. This is another quality brand worth a look. Note that this brand does run on the smaller size and many people find they need to size up 1-2.

Cinq á Sept

This one has three-quarter ruched sleeves and is made of a crepe-like material (polyester). It has a beautiful drape, and budget wise it’s a nice mid-range price point.

Budget-Friendly

This J.Crew blazer is our top pick for a budget-friendly option. Rachel has this blazer in camel and really likes it. She did size up two sizes (to a 6) for more of a boyfriend fit. It’s worth trying on in a few sizes to find your perfect fit – it really is somewhat a matter of personal preference.
