I found this little gem today – Why Passion is so Critically Important to Happiness, by Gretchen Rubin. It’s a fast read but it encompasses everything I believe about passion.
This is the time of year we start thinking about what our New Year’s resolutions will be. Many people will say don’t wait, start now. I kind of like the idea of a fresh start in January. After the festivities are over (and all the drinking and eating, oy!) and life becomes a little bit quieter.
It was 14 years ago that I allowed myself to explore a new passion – photography. I had always had an interest in photography but it seemed like something someone else did. Someone with more talent or education or whatever! How wrong I was.
Before that, I really lacked a passion. I had things I enjoyed but nothing that I really needed in my soul. Once I discovered this love, I couldn’t get enough. Every spare moment was spent on reading, education, practicing, and living photography.
And to this day, it is still my passion. It looks a little differently for me right now. I’m not always the one pressing the shutter, but I am deeply involved in the process and I still get so much joy out of it. And I’m constantly figuring out ways to grow and expand in this area. It still feeds my soul.
So I put this out to you all — if you haven’t yet found your passion (or if you’ve not allowed yourself to explore them!) make that a priority in 2022. Your life will be richer, and you will never regret it. And who knows what it will lead to.
And if you have found your passion, do you still feed and nurture it? What is your passion? We want to know! We love hearing your stories and we want to celebrate them with you.

PS: Last week I wrote an article on my favorite outerwear. I referenced the Theory Clairene coat which I absolutely love. It’s basically like the winter jacket version of a blazer.
I see they have some listed on the Theory Outlet site. I’m honestly not sure of the differences, but they do look pretty much identical at half the price. Might be worth checking out! Or wait until after Christmas when everything is surely to be on even greater sale!
