Wearing boyfriend jeans, white ATM t-shirt, rag and bone retro sneakers and Paige utility jacket at the airport.

A No-Fail Travel Outfit + My Travel Essentials

Gosh…travel! It almost seems like a foreign concept at this point. And what to wear to the airport – let alone pack in the actual suitcase – I am rusty!

My middle daughter graduated from middle school this past week, and we went on a girls weekend to Chicago. Exciting and fun for so many reasons. Our trip was very relaxed – mostly shopping, eating pizza and site seeing – so I ended up packing sneaks, jeans, a few tees/tanks, a light jacket and one dress.

For the actual airport I went with my usual – boyfriend jeans (aka comfortable), my favorite white tee, a light jacket (read more about this amazing Paige jacket here)….and you guessed it, my fave sneaks (more here)! I always travel with a hat as well (yep, skin cancer sucks) and rather than risk it getting crumpled in my suitcase, I typically just wear it to the airport and stow it under the seat with my backpack during the flight.

(Quick note on the sneaks: I have walked for blocks in the rain in these shoes…and now all over the city of Chicago – and they still look like new. They seriously wipe clean with a damp rag. These babies are top notch quality and sooo worth it. I’m even considering a second color.)

**Sizing notes:  Both the jacket and tee are very TTS – don’t size up. The hat runs a smidge small – I would suggest that you measure and follow the size chart online. I’m  wearing a medium.

As far as the actual travel gear goes –

I LOVE the Away slightly-bigger carry-on. It’s not part of like to know it (our shopping affiliate), so I linked it here. I have traveled quite a bit with this suitcase – it fits a surprising amount with it’s compression system, fits into most overhead bins, has a hidden laundry bag and a hard shell that is built to last. Amazing quality at an amazing price. And oh my goodness…this new aluminum version is stunning, but more expensive – here.

My other packing have-to-have are packing cubes. And honestly, almost any will do. But the Calpac ones are pretty! (I know, I know!)

Lastly, a backpack is a must-have for travel. I bought my Tumi on sale and it is admittedly expensive at full-price but a piece that will last forever. This doubles as my laptop bag at home. I have the color indigo with silver hardware, and it is stunning.

Oh! And if you’ve been her a bit, you know I’m a skincare junkie – this Colleen Rothschild  discovery bundle is perfect for travel. It comes in an amazing toiletry bag and has all of the essential plus a few extras. A steal!

A change of scenery is good for the soul. What’s even better? Going home! (Homebody by nature – haha)
