Occasionally I’ll fall madly in love with a piece of clothing. This time it’s the Rails Ellis gauze shirt. This is how to wear a button down shirt for spring!
I’m super picky about button down shirts, but a good one can transform a wardrobe in so many ways. No wardrobe capsule is complete without one.
The Rails Ellis gauze shirt is made from a double layer of the very softest gauze I’ve ever had on my body. Mine is in the colorway Indigo and I adore the contrasting buttons.
It comes in multiple colorways, and I was tempted by the white except that I already have several white button downs. The Indigo is basically a beautiful navy and something I didn’t already have in my closet.
I created a quick reel to show a few of the ways I’ve already been wearing this shirt, and I know that in the coming months I’ll wear it with most of my wardrobe, year-round.
It’s also the perfect item to use as a jacket-alternative during cooler evenings.
I sized up to medium for extra slouch (plus to accommodate my wider back and bust, something I usually have to do with button downs). It’s perfectly oversized on me without being too big.
