Is there such a thing as the perfect dress? Now that I’ve had the Ramy Brook Ayla for a few months, I’m calling it — this is definitely the perfect dress.
It’s so perfect, in fact, that Rachel bought it in olive green (see it near the bottom of our What to Wear for Thanksgiving Article), and this is the first time I have considered buying the same dress in multiple colors (it also comes in bordeaux).
I wrote about it one other time and styled it completely different. I love how easy it is to change up with different accessories. I plan to also pair with sparkly accessories for a sophisticated holiday look!
What makes it the perfect dress, you may ask? Let me count the ways.
1. It’s a shirt dress. I mean is there a more quintessential perfect piece of clothing than the shirt dress? I think not.
2. It’s long enough. I have searched for the perfect shirt dress for years (yes, years). I’m sorry, but I’m not interested in wearing a shirt dress that barely covers my behind. I’m past that stage, what can I say?!
3. The fabric is luxuriously silky smooth and soft. It also drapes so perfectly across the body making it so flattering.
4. The built-in belt is actually perfection. How many belts are too skinny or set too high or just don’t work? This one is thick and sewn right in at the back. You just have to see it, but trust me.
5. The billowy sleeves have the perfect amount of fullness (not too little and not too much), fastened at the wrist by two beautiful gold buttons.
6. The neckline is the final win — it’s sexy but not cut so deep you are afraid of exposing yourself.
So yeah, it’s that good. Just go buy it already! I love it more than any other dress in my closet, at the moment.
